Pro-Model and Talent Spring Trend Report

fashion
fundamentals
It may not feel like it, but Spring is just around the corner and I for one am excited to shed some layers and show off more than just my cute coat or jacket. So what’s new for Spring 2010?! We’re seeing a lot of patterns this spring—running the gamut from florals to geometrics and even animal prints. The runways rocked mixing patterns together—all colors and different types however runway doesn’t always translate well into reality. So, instead of going head-to-toe print choose one signature piece and pair it with a solid bright color as opposed to basic black, white, or neutral. OR if you want to give the trend more of a try, start with pairing two of the SAME patterns together instead of mixing and matching. A super fem, brightly printed floral suit is flirty and eye-catching. NOTE: The head-to-toe look works best on taller frames as all over buds could overwhelm the petite. Instead of loosely fitting pieces they should be super fitted in order to not get lost in the print. Want to start off easy? Try a pretty floral frock and belt it with a geometric sash in like colors. Finish with a cognac/brown sturdy sandal. Sorry guys but the pattern trend really isn’t for all the dudes. Quite opposite actually one of the BIGGEST trends for all the gents is neutrals. It’s all about layering safari like colors together and wearing light basic styles and designs. Minimalist would be the best way to describe the appropriate way to don the look. Ultra “designed” and fitted items are out when it comes to the “neutral trend” as are classic crew neck tees. A better option would be a loose silk/knit tank or tee and jackets in breathable linen. Unlike many runway trends, this is quite wearable and is a bit of a nod to the men’s styles in the 1980’s. Try the look by first investing in a tan safari-inspired jacket complete with multiple pockets and numerous buttons. Rather than pairing with pants try a very pale slate short that hits the knee and finish with a taupe nubby suede loafer (no socks allowed). Whatever trend you choose to don for Spring make it your own and you’ll be sure to shine.
