Ahh! Spring is here! Not only do our demeanors get brighter and more cheerful this time of year, but so does our fashion sense! This season is going to morph and evolve your wardrobe and style sense like never before. What once was current is about to be a distant memory, but don’t fret! Some of the 2012 trends are going to give us that ‘blast from the past’ feel too. So don’t go storing away those wintry dresses just yet ladies!
Add a floral accent to ANY dress in your closet to give it a fresh spring feel. Pin a flower of any fabric or color to your dress and you’ve transformed that dowdy reminder of winter, into a crisp and bright addition to your spring and summer wardrobe. Speaking of flowery, the biggest colors are going to be pastels this season, so add pops of it anywhere you can! With all of the sunny weather comes more activities and time spent out of the house.
To get the look in half the time, follow the next couple 2012 trends and you’ll be out the door in no time.
THE MANE EVENT: For hair with that tussled, beachy look: wash your hair at night and remove all the excess water you can with a towel, sleeping on your damp hair. When you wake up the next morning don’t grab for your brush. Instead, run a wide toothed comb through your hair, then put a small amount of product in your hands (like Bed Head’s Manipulator) and work it into your hair; you’ll notice that your hair has its own natural wave to it! This look takes virtually no time at all and is perfect for those of us with jam-packed schedules.
Let's face it, we're pulled in multiple directions on a daily basis and sometimes washing and re-doing our hair isn't at the top of our list. Washing your hair too often can strip the hair of its natural oils anyway, which causes dry, frizzy hair that isn't healthy looking at all. Dry shampoo (like Tigi’s Rockaholic) is a great alternative allowing your hair to get away with an extra day or two without a wash. When your hair needs a pick-me-up, just grab your secret weapon— dry shampoo.
FACE TIME: Less is more this season! As far as make-up goes, the hottest thing this season will be the Twiggy-esq look. All you need is a great eyelash curler and some mascara, so toss out your eyeliner and eye shadow. Put your mascara on first and you’ll see you don’t need as much make-up as you thought. Finish the look by contouring your cheeks with bronzer and applying a nude lip. For the perfect nude lip, dab on some concealor first to set your base, brush on a nude color starting on the inside of the lip, and finish by dusting on some loose powder.
GUYS: We didn’t forget about you and we have great news! Recently trending in not only female but male fashion has been skinny jeans. Well, toss out those narrow skinny jeans because wide legged pants are back on the runways and need to get back into your closets. Think relaxed fit jeans. They will look more manly and not to mention they’re far more comfortable. Pair your relaxed fit jeans with a pastel colored shirt. Pastels will be huge for guys and girls this season!
Also for the gentlemen, we know you don’t like to do ‘girly’ things like say, moisturize. Well next time you’re at the grocery store, pick up some grape seed oil. Grape seed oil is a great alternative to over the counter moisturizers especially for those of us with allergies, since its all natural.
