When did you first become interested in modeling and acting? Liz: Although I didn’t have a direct interest in modeling, I have ALWAYS been in love with acting. I grew up watching my parents perform and as soon as I could walk I was on the stage myself. Are you glad you attended the classes at Barbizon of Akron? Liz: Of course! The training helped make me more aware of my body and how my posture and movement can effect the way something is seen if there is no script involved. In addition the classes kept me and my sister close after I moved away for school, and it introduced me to the national convention Barbizon of Akron and Pro-Model and Talent Management (PMTM) associate with. Your sister Gracie is younger than you… Did the classes help Gracie with her confidence? Liz: Yes, most definitely. The classes helped her immensely! She is at a very tough age. Before moving out to Los Angeles what assignments did you do with Pro- Model and Talent Management? Liz: I did a lot of promotional work and jumped into a couple auditions for local films and commercials, and participated in a couple industrial videos. I did a Victoria’s Secret Training video, which I had so much fun with—I enjoyed being on set doing what I love and getting paid for it! What are you doing today? Liz: Today I am living the dream in the City of Angels… Los Angeles! I have full representation and I am living my life doing what I love! Do you feel the foundation you learned at Barbizon of Akron helped with what you are doing now? Liz: Of course. Barbizon of Akron was the first step of this wonderful journey and built a great foundation for me. I am always training, taking acting classes, voice-over classes, and singing lessons. Training is so important, you always need to work in order to better your craft. I hear people say all the time that it’s not necessary to have training in order to become an actor or model. What would you say to someone who feels that way? Liz: That is most certainly not true! Training, aside from natural talent, is the MOST important weapon in this industry. An actor never stops training. All the great professional actors still study and train too! Do you feel that training is important? If so, why? Liz: YES! Absolutely! It is so important to study your craft, no matter what it is, inside and out! People also say that attending a model and talent convention is a waste of time and finances and that you can just go to New York City or Los Angeles and get auditions. What are your thoughts on that statement? Liz: Attending a convention is more than worth it! On average, there are 150,000 actors seeking work in the Los Angeles area. Can you imagine them knocking on door after door with a headshot in hand? When you attend a national convention, you have all the agents, managers, and casting directors literally at your fingertips. Not only are they all in one place, they are all looking at you, and you have the ability to make connections and impressions that last a lifetime. Hopes and dreams can get you far, but a connection or two is important as well. I cannot sing the praises of Pro-Model and Talent enough! Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
