How did you get interested in modeling and acting? Alex: As a child I was multi-talented and involved in a lot of different activities, and when I discovered I could act it changed my world forever! No one ever pushed me into it, I always had the desire to pursue acting and knew that was what I wanted to do. When I was just 2 years old, I told everybody that I was moving to Hollywood after High School to become a movie star, and that’s exactly what I did! What modeling-acting schools-conventions did you attend? Alex: I attended Barbizon of Akron, The International Model & Talent Association (IMTA), The Actor Model Talent Competition (AMTC), The Beck Center, participated in private theater, TV, film and voice training, in addition to multiple dance classes. When I was 11 I attended IMTA with an agency out of Cleveland, nothing happened after that Convention. Two years later I attended the AMTC Convention with yet another agency out of Lorain, where again, nothing happened. Another four years passed and I decided to attend another national convention, but this time with Pro-Model and Talent Management (PMTM), I won two awards, received six callbacks, and signed with a national TV and film manager! Why do you feel nothing happened at the first two conventions you attended? Alex: Both were good conventions, I just was not prepared to compete at either of them. How did you hear about Barbizon of Akron? Alex: Through a model who was signed with Pro-Model and Talent Management. How did you like the Barbizon of Akron classes? Alex: I loved them! They really taught me a lot, and gave me the wings I needed to be able to fly in this industry. I received a lot of guidance from my instructors and directors and became very informed about the industry. I can honestly say Barbizon of Akron wasn’t only work, I had a lot of fun too and met great people who I still keep in touch with. Did the classes help you with your self-confidence and life skills? Alex: They helped with EVERYTHING! Did they help with modeling and acting techniques? Alex: Yes, like you wouldn’t believe! Barbizon of Akron taught me the foundations of modeling and acting and made me a strong competitor in this business. Would you recommend Barbizon of Akron to someone? Alex: I would recommend Barbizon of Akron to anyone for self-confidence and to those who want to get involved in the industry. I brag and brag and brag about Barbizon of Akron and Pro-Model and Talent Management. I could search the world and never find a better or more professional agency… Any girls or guys who worry about normal social pressures like dating, drugs, and what people think should check out Barbizon of Akron because the classes and instructors instill the confidence needed to overcome those pressures and stresses. What assignments did you do with Pro-Model and Talent Management? Alex: I worked quite a bit. I was the lead fit model for DOTS, and did a great deal of promotional work. My favorite job was the day after my 18th birthday when I got to dress as a giant credit card. I earned a whopping $30.00 an hour, which is more money than my dad makes after 30 years at a car manufacturer. Can you tell us what you are doing today? Alex: Today I live in Los Angeles. California is the most amazing place! My whole life people told me that I couldn’t do it, that I wasn’t good enough or good-looking enough, since I had bad acne growing up. But look at me now! Don’t ever let anybody tell you no. This is your life, and if you truly want to model and act, you can do it, and Barbizon of Akron and Pro-Model and Talent will help you along the way! Do you feel you would be where you are now without the training, knowledge, and guidance from Barbizon of Akron and Pro-Model and Talent Management (PMTM)? Alex: Absolutely not! The staff at Barbizon of Akron and Pro-Model and Talent Management provide the information and training necessary to succeed and help undiscovered actors become legends. The rest is up to the individual. Many people feel they do not need training to model or act; what do you say when someone says that? Alex: How do you expect to become a lawyer, teacher, or doctor without a degree? How could you compete against others in the same field? Everyone has to pay their dues and get an education for any profession in life. Do you feel you need training to succeed in this industry? Alex: Yes, people who say that training is not needed shouldn’t be in the modeling or entertainment business because the competition is way too tough. Agents and managers don’t have time to waste on those who don’t know what they’re doing. Anything else you want to say to people who are thinking about attending Barbizon of Akron? Alex: The staff at Barbizon of Akron and Pro-Model and Talent Management have gone above and beyond to provide opportunities for me. Some day I will say thanks to Barbizon of Akron and Pro-Model and Talent Management while holding my Oscar. |
